Hopes are that at least $75,000 can be raised to help Blunt
residents pay for the restoration of an historic home in the
community.  Blunt Mayor Swede Larson says the house was
once the residence for Mentor Graham.  Graham was most
famous for being a teacher to President Abraham Lincoln.
Larson says the home, along Highway 14 in Blunt was damaged
by flooding ten years ago and needs some work.

Larson says Graham’s son owned the home, but Graham lived
there in his elder years and that is where he passed away.

At least one of the state’s members of Congress is helping to
secure grant funding for the historic location, according to
Larson and volunteers who want to help save the home are
ready to assist with restoration work when the total amount of
money needed for the project is secured.

The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Individual donations can be sent to the City of Blunt’s Finance
Office.  The zip code in Blunt is 57522.
